A Soft Escape is what you do when you skip your partner’s follow-up question. Draw a Soft Escape card and pick a small action together. You may use up to two Soft Escapes per Circle. The second Soft Escape has a special rule depending on how you play: - Gentle: do your Soft Escape, then complete one small action your partner chooses from any Surprise Card. - Competitive: give your partner one earned token—the token they choose.

What happens if someone skips twice?

You can use up to two Soft Escapes per Circle. A third skip of your partner’s follow-up question doesn’t activate another Soft Escape—instead, give a short minimal answer or invite a gentler rephrase.

When can we use a CURIOUS token (during play vs end of Circle)?

Use CURIOUS when you skipped a card and your partner wants a follow-up, but nothing comes to mind yet. CURIOUS tokens may be saved for future days—but only used during the game. At the end of the Circle, check CURIOUS tokens: use them then (following the normal skip/Soft Escape rules), or save them.

After each card—when you’re both done—offer each other a token from the base pile. Pick what fits the moment (Truth, Tenderness, Courage, Touch). No pressure to “score” it perfectly.

A rare, spontaneous token for something surprising or quietly beautiful—outside the rules. Each player may receive one SPARK per Circle. SPARK can complete any set of three matching tokens or four mixed tokens to unlock rewards.

At the end of a Circle, if you collected three tokens of the same type, you may open the matching Surprise Card and pick one invitation. If you collected four mixed tokens, you may open Date Ideas instead (the winner chooses what the next date looks like). When a winner is decided, tokens go back to the base pile.
